Former England international Darren Bent claims that Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp and ManCity coach Pep Guardiola have personally negotiated with Paul Pogba. Chelsea, Juve, PSG and Real are also in the mix.

Paul Pogba is spoilt for choice in the summer.

The most valuable footballer on a free transfer – he is worth 55 million euros – can choose his new club after six years at Manchester United, as his contract with the Red Devils has expired.

Most recently, there has been speculation about a return to Juventus Turin. However, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also vying for the 29-year-old, which the Spanish newspaper AS confirms on the front page of Saturday’s edition.

Suddenly, there is talk from England that Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC are now also said to be making efforts to sign Pogba. Until now, the two top English clubs were not even in the running.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have turned Pogba down despite a lucrative four-year contract because the ex-United player did not want to join their city rivals, of all clubs, according to unanimous reports on the island.

Bent doesn’t see that problem with Liverpool and Chelsea: “I don’t know if Chelsea fans want him, but I wonder if some of the players do. Footballers will think differently to the fans. In my opinion, the Chelsea players think: ‘I would like to have a player like that here’. Players tick differently. It will be the same at Liverpool.”

Can Klopp lead Pogba to old strength?

Klopp and Pogba – could it work? In France’s national team, the 29-year-old consistently delivers good performances and won the World Cup title.

The German star coach is certainly capable of bringing Pogba back to his old world-class form at Liverpool.

Or in Bent’s words: “All great coaches always think I can get the best out of this player!” And Klopp is just like Tuchel – a great coach.

However, this also exists at Real with Carlo Ancelotti and at Juve with Massimiliano Allegri. Only PSG doesn’t have one, which could change if Zinédine Zidane takes over in Paris. Either way, Pogba is spoilt for choice.
