The Ukraine national team showed morale just three days after its bitter exit from the World Cup qualifiers and started the Nations League with a win.

The war-torn country won 1-0 (0-0) in Ireland on Wednesday evening, with Viktor Tsygankov (47th) scoring the decisive goal. The crowd in Dublin showed its solidarity with Ukraine in many ways.

Also in Group 1 of the B-League, Scotland beat Armenia 2-0 (2:0). Anthony Ralston (28th) and Scott McKenna (40th) scored the goals. Scotland, Ukraine and Armenia now have three points each.

Ukraine had lost the play-off final in Wales last Sunday and thus missed the last European ticket for the World Cup finals in Qatar (21 November to 18 December).
