After Pique, it has now also hit Sergio Ramos. A Spanish newspaper published spicy private messages from the PSG star, with an unusual request to a Spanish official.

Sergio Ramos is not having an easy time of it at the moment.

Since his transfer from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain, things have not been going well for the former Spanish international.

Numerous injuries meant that he only played twelve games in the French Ligue 1. In the Champions League, he did not even play at all. Now the 36-year-old is also facing private trouble.

The Spanish newspaper El Confidencial revealed private messages from Ramos to Spanish federation boss Luis Rubiales from 2019, in which he made an unusual request: he wanted to win the Ballon d’Or!

“Rubi, good evening, I hope you and your family are well. You know I’ve never asked you for anything, but if I want to do it today it’s because I think it’s a special year for the achievement I’ve made.”

Ramos: “Would thank you for the rest of my life”

Ramos hoped the federation boss would play his contacts to make the coup happen. “I would thank you for the rest of my life. Not only for me, but also because I think Spanish football is very deserving,” the then Real star said.

He ended his message warmly: “I hug you.”

Rubiales responded by promising to help Ramos in any way he could – but to no avail, as Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or that year.
