Frenchman Patrick Mouratoglou, once the successful coach of the recently retired US icon Serena Williams, is devoting himself to a new project on the tennis tour, at least temporarily.

While his protégé Simona Halep (Romania) is taking a break, Mouratoglou is traveling around the world with the team of Danish top talent Holger Rune (19). Four tournaments this year and the preparation for the coming season are on the joint program.

Rune has been training in Mouratoglou’s academy since 2016. This year, the teenager made his breakthrough, winning his first title on the ATP Tour on clay in Munich and climbing into the top 30 in the world rankings. Two-time Grand Slam winner Halep is not expected to return to the tour until 2023 after an operation.
