Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Manchester United team. After a lacklustre test match performance, the superstar leaves Old Trafford before the final whistle.

“The king plays on Sunday” – with these pithy words Cristiano Ronaldo announced his return to Manchester United.

And indeed, the Portuguese superstar did play from the start in the test match against Ray Vallecano after missing large parts of the preparation so far.

But the comeback was by far not as triumphant as announced. Ronaldo remained pale and was already substituted at half-time. Probably the only scene worth mentioning: During a break for a drink, “CR7” reacted to a speech by coach Erik ten Hag by shrugging his shoulders.

According to the English media, Ronaldo didn’t see anything of the second half and left the stadium around ten minutes before the final whistle.

Stunned fans filmed his departure from Old Trafford. One wrote on Twitter: “The King is gone”.

So far, however, no suitable buyer has been found. Ronaldo would like to continue competing in the Champions League, but this is not possible in the coming season with United.

So the future of the “King” is still open.
