The Munich veteran will probably continue to score goals for the record champions. Müller’s advisor is said to have reached an agreement with the club on extending his contract, which expires in 2023.
While contract extensions with some top stars are proving difficult, FC Bayern can now apparently plan for the long term with one of its top performers. Thomas Müller is to extend his contract with the record champion. This was reported by the newspaper “Bild”.
According to the report, Müller’s advisor Ludwig Kögl and Bayern bosses Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic began contract talks at the beginning of the month and are now already close to an agreement. The newspaper also writes that the international will receive a new contract that runs until 2025. Müller’s current contract ends in 2023.
Müller is Bayern’s longest-serving player
Müller had already expressed his confidence in his future after Bayern’s 3-0 win over Bielefeld on Sunday: “I believe that a solution will be found at the end of the day. But how, when, where – you will find out then.”
The national player is the identification figure par excellence at the Munich club. He has been wearing the jersey of the professional team since 2009 and is the longest-serving Bayern player.
Most recently, there had been ongoing discussions and speculation about the contracts of Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry, all of whom have not yet signed a new contract and would be free on loan next year. Especially in the case of goal scorer Lewandowski, rumours of an early departure from Munich are doing the rounds.
