After Sadio Mané, the next striker leaves Liverpool FC.
Takumi Minamino joins AS Monaco for the coming season. Jürgen Klopp loses his next offensive player after Sadio Mané’s move to FC Bayern.
AS coach Philippe Clement even confirmed this himself during a friendly match. “I am very happy, I have known him for a long time. He was at the top of our list. Everyone here is convinced that he has the quality to enrich our team,” the 48-year-old told L’Équipe.
Minamino is said to be worth €15 million to the principality club. The amount will be transferred to Anfield Road in five instalments. Plus performance-related bonuses, the sum can still rise to 18 million euros.
The only thing the Japanese international still has to undergo is a medical check.
Liverpool signed Minamino from RB Salzburg in January 2020. He never really caught on with the Reds and was loaned out to Southampton FC a year later. The competition for Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino was too great.
This season, the 27-year-old played only 22 games in all competitions for the Reds. He then expressed his desire to move, to which Liverpool have now agreed.
