WRC-leader Kalle Rovanperä defended his leading position at the Rally Estonia on the final day. Driving a Toyota, the 21-year-old Finn secured his fifth victory in the seventh round of the World Rally Championship and extended his lead in the overall standings to 83 points.

Rovanperä finished the final day with a lead of 1:00.9 minutes over his Welsh brand colleague Elfyn Evans. The podium was completed by Estonian local hero Ott Tänak, almost two minutes behind.

The Finn received five bonus points for his best time on the last special stage, the so-called “Power Stage” on completely soaked and muddy tracks.

Estonia is a good place for Rovanperä: With his victory twelve months ago, he became the youngest rally winner in WRC history. His success this weekend now brought him a big step closer to his goal of becoming the youngest overall winner.
