After the contract coup with Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain is apparently undergoing a major reorganisation. Mauricio Pochettino is said to be on the verge of being sacked. Joachim Löw is also considered a possible successor.
On Saturday, an epic transfer saga came to an end with a surprise: Kylian Mbappé remains loyal to Paris Saint-Germain.
For several hours there was pure joy in Paris, but at the latest on the day after the hammer news, tough everyday football life is once again the order of the day in the French capital.
Early this morning, the release of PSG sporting director Leonardo was announced – although not yet officially announced, it has long been sold as a fact by the French media. Mbappé himself is also said to have had a hand in it. And the next far-reaching personnel decision is probably already imminent.
RMC Sport reports that the departure of coach Mauricio Pochettino is also sealed. The departure of the Argentine is expected to be announced within the next few days. The trade magazine L’Equipe also writes that Pochettino’s future does not lie in Paris.
Löw as PSG coach? That is supposed to speak in favour of it
In its report, it also mentions several possible successors. Among others, Joachim Löw is mentioned as a possible new PSG coach.
The former German coach is not only on the market, but also has a lot of experience as a former World Cup winner. However, his time as a club coach is relatively short in comparison.
Löw himself had announced on Saturday on the sidelines of the DFB Cup that he would very much like to return to the coaching bench of a club.
“The will is already there. I would love to coach a club again. That would be fun for me,” said the ex-DFB coach. He said there were some enquiries, but nothing concrete yet.
Pochettino misses Champions League win
Bastian Schweinsteiger added on ARD that Löw could “certainly help one or the other club” in the Bundesliga.
In addition to Löw, L’Equipe also named Roberto Martinez and Thiago Motta as possible PSG candidates. The name Zinédine Zidane has been circulating around Paris for some time anyway. According to Telefoot, however, he will not take the job.
Pochettino is accused of missing the big goal of winning the Champions League, just like his predecessors.
According to various reports, he is not too fond of Mbappé either – something that is likely to be of even greater importance since the latter’s contract extension.
