The German national basketball player Tibor Pleiß (32) has reason to celebrate. He defended the Euroleague title with Anadolu Istanbul.

In the final in Belgrade, the Turkish top club defeated Real Madrid 58:57 (29:34).

In a competitive game, in which both teams weakened especially from distance, centre Pleiß was convincing with 19 points and seven rebounds in a good 30 minutes of action.

65 seconds before the final siren, the Bergisch-Gladbach native converted a two-point shot for a 58-55 lead. Top scorer of the game was his teammate Vasilije Micic with 23 points.

Last year, Pleiß and Anadolu beat FC Barcelona in the final in Cologne. This is the Turkish club’s first successful title defence since Olympiakos Piraeus in 2013.
