Is Neymar planning his departure from PSG this summer? The Brazilian must have been struck by the words of president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Has a verbal roundhouse from PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi resulted in a tremor?
“I expect all the players to perform much more than they did last season. Much more! For next season, the goal is clear: to work 200 per cent every day,” he told French newspaper Le Parisien. “Those who want to stay in their comfort zone, those who don’t want to fight, are out.”
He added: “We have to become humble again. We have to change to avoid injuries, suspensions and fouls that tip a game.”
Neymar hit by Al-Khelaifi
And then Al-Khelaifi said: “A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all the players to perform much better than last season.”
So PSG can envisage a sale of the Brazilian superstar. Most recently, his name appeared on an alleged strike list of his employers Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar seems to be anything but enthusiastic about Al-Khelaifi’s words. According to RMC, the Brazilian is now even planning his departure.
The striker feels attacked by the words and is now rethinking his plans for the summer.
According to RMC, Neymar did not actually want to move before the World Cup, but is now said to be open to an immediate switch.
Neymar: PSG contract to be extended
Neymar had first thought about ending his time at PSG after their Champions League exit to Real Madrid, but then put those thoughts to one side.
Now, however, Al-Khelaifi has ensured that the Brazilian has started to think again.
However, it will probably be very difficult to find a buyer for the 30-year-old. The transfer fee and Neymar’s impressive salary are major hurdles.
In addition, his contract, which runs until 2025, will be extended by two more years on 1 July. This extension would make it even more difficult to sell the 2016 Olympic champion.
