So far, Lionel Messi has hardly lived up to the high expectations since his move to Paris Saint-Germain. Now teammate Neymar is hitting back at his critics.

Neymar responds to the ongoing criticism against Lionel Messi!

On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 4-0 win over FC Nantes to lift the French Super Cup. Messi scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute, before Neymar and Sergio Ramos added to the tally.

After the match, Neymar was asked if there would be a “new” Messi at PSG. The 30-year-old waved it off and defended his Argentinian team-mate.

“People talk a lot without knowing what’s going on day by day. Leo is Leo forever, he won’t change and he will remain a player who makes differences,” the Brazilian said on Prime Video.

Looking ahead to next season, Neymar is optimistic: “I hope the three of us stay at PSG this season and that things go well. If Kylian, Leo and I do well, PSG will do well.”
