FC Bayern Basketball signs an international player for the new season. A forward comes from Chemnitz.
Basketball runner-up Bayern Munich has signed power forward Jan Niklas Wimberg.
The 14-time national player comes from league rivals Niners Chemnitz and signed a two-year contract until 2024 with the Munich team.
“All in all, he has proven that he has earned this challenge,” said Bayern sports director Daniele Baiesi: “Especially since his ambition is unusually strong to want to compete at EuroLeague level.”
Chemnitz had previously announced the departure of the 26-year-old Wimberg. He originally had a contract with the Niners until the end of the coming season. However, due to an exit clause, he could leave the club “for a fixed fee”, “if a team from the EuroLeague comes knocking”, according to the club.
