Tatjana Maria has reached the quarter-finals of a WTA tournament again after almost three years.
Good news from Bogota: In the round of the last 16, the German tennis player Maria surprisingly won clearly 6:1, 6:4 against the Swedish third seed Rebecca Peterson.
The last time Maria reached a quarter-final on the WTA Tour was in June 2019 at the tournament in Nottingham, Great Britain, where she only failed in the round of the last four. Maria’s strong showing in Colombia puts her back in the top 200 players in the world as of Monday.
The next opponent for the woman from Bad Saulgau is Peterson’s compatriot Mirjam Björklund. So once again it’s Germany against Sweden.
