A fan has to be resuscitated during the match between Cádiz and Barcelona. After the match, some Barca stars speak out.
This scene made the result of the LaLiga match between FC Cádiz and FC Barcelona become a minor matter.
A medical emergency occurred in the stands of the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla shortly before the end of the match and a fan had to be resuscitated. Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma also threw a defibrillator into the stands. After a break of about an hour, the match continued and Barca won the dress rehearsal for the Champions League clash with FC Bayern Munich 4-0. Naturally, no one was in the mood to celebrate.
Several Barca stars spoke out after the final whistle, including Robert Lewandowski. “Tonight was about more than football,” posted the Pole, who had scored the 2:0 after coming on as a substitute. The picture of his post showed a Barca medic tossing the defibrillator to the Cadiz keeper.
Barca captain Sergio Busquets wrote: “Life is always more important than football. As a team we wish the spectator a speedy recovery and all his family lots of strength.”
Fati: “The goal goes to him”
Barca youngster Ansu Fati dedicated his goal to make it 3-0 to the fan. “Today, football is the least important thing. We wish the Cadiz spectator a speedy recovery, the goal goes to him and his family.”
Cadiz FC had spoken out via Twitter after the match. “Resuscitation efforts were positive after a few minutes and the fan was transferred to the intensive care unit of Puerta del Mar hospital, where he continues to receive in-patient treatment.”
Barca coach Xavi explained, “This kind of thing goes beyond football, this is about a human life, so we all agreed to stop. Fortunately they were able to save him.”
