On Thursday morning, Nick Kyrgios fought through three sets in Tokyo. In Astana, Novak Djokovic, among others, reached the round of the last eight with ease.
Nick Kyrgios is through Tokyo’s quarter-finals after losing the first set against Kamil Majchrzak. After 3:6, 6:2, and 6:2, Taylor Fritz is now waiting. Also through to the next round is Frances Tiafoe, who defeated Spain’s enable Zapata Miralles in two straight sets.
Djokovic makes short work of Medvedev now against Bautista Agut
Novak Djokovic easily reached the quarter-finals of the ATP tournament in Astana. The Serb, seeded fourth, beat Biotic van de Zandschulp (Netherlands) 6-3, 6-1 in 1:10 hours. Djokovic will meet Karen Khachanov in the last eight on Friday.
Second seed Daniil Medvedev also secured his place in the quarter-finals. The 2021 US Open winner advanced by beating Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-2, and will play Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain) on Friday.
Djokovic, absent from the US Open in September due to missing a corona vaccination, had already impressed with dominant performances in his recent tournament win in Tel Aviv. Since winning the Wimbledon final, the 21-time Grand Slam champion has not dropped a set. Medvedev lost his opening match at the tournament in Metz.
