Toni Kroos is delighted with wildcard David Alaba’s goal in Real Madrid’s opening win – but also jokes about his team-mate.
David Alaba scored for Real Madrid at the weekend directly after his substitution from a free kick.
The goal in the 2-1 win against UD Almería also inspired teammate Toni Kroos. “Not the worst first touch of the ball from this man”,
On his podcast Einfach mal Luppen, which he runs with his brother Felix, Kroos joked about Alaba. “I told him: ‘You did a great job, but what you really lack to be a great player is that you let yourself be substituted straight away,'” said Kroos, who also had to smile about another action of the Austrian.
Because shortly after the goal, there was a drinking break for both teams. “And he (Alaba) went to get electrolytes,” said Kroos, who also spoke about the spat between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte in the podcast: “I say: ‘What are you doing, you’ve been on the pitch for 30 seconds!”
Brother Felix added: “The best thing would have been for him to lie on the floor so his calves get shaken – like they usually do in extra time.”
