Liverpool FC can crown themselves champions of England in their home match against Wolverhampton on Sunday under certain circumstances. The visitors will receive a large bonus payment if this happens.

Manchester City and Liverpool FC are separated by just one point in the table, so neither team can afford to slip up on the final matchday.

Pep Guardiola’s City have it in their own hands, but if they slip up, Liverpool can slip past with a win and be crowned Premier League champions again after 2019.

Liverpool must pay if they win title

The championship would have an expensive repercussion, however. LFC signed attacker Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2020 and paid a transfer fee of around €4.7 million for the time being, according to Dailymail.

However, the sum is dependent on the Portuguese’s performances as well as the success of Jürgen Klopp’s team. The Wolves can therefore generate further payments. So far, almost 15 million euros have been added.

As the British tabloid reports, a large bonus payment is due if Jota wins his first Premier League title with Liverpool. An exact figure is not revealed.

Wolves travel to Liverpool

It is explosive that the two teams meet next Sunday (5pm) of all days. Due to the outstanding payment in case of a possible title win for the Reds, it is being discussed how Wolves will perform.

Will they play as normal or give away? Ahead of the final matchday, Wanderers occupy eighth place with no room for improvement up the table. With international football out of reach, there is nothing left to play for.

Manchester City play at home against Aston Villa at the same time and have everything in their own hands due to their small lead. If they win, Guardiola’s team will be champions. If they fail, City will have to see what Liverpool do against Wolves.
