A transfer of Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United was considered very likely for weeks. But the Dutchman is said to be anything but enthusiastic about the idea.

The future of Dutchman Frenkie de Jong remains uncertain.

The Dutchman was recently linked with a move to Manchester United, but according to Spanish media reports, he has now categorically ruled out a commitment to the Red Devils,

In order to make this decision, the 25-year-old apparently drew up a list of ten reasons why he should not join United.

De Jong would see United as a step backwards

According to a report in Diario Sport, the Dutchman has no interest in a move to United and is said to be baffled by the rumours, as it seems he never had any intention of joining the Red Devils.

One reason de Jong is believed to have listed is the fact that the Dutchman recently bought a house near Barcelona and he and his wife are very comfortable in Barcelona.

The cold English weather would put de Jong off.

The sporting reasons, however, are likely to be the more decisive ones. De Jong would apparently regard a move to United as a step backwards, as they are not even in the Champions League next season.

Moreover, it had already been de Jong’s dream as a child to play for FC Barcelona one day. Not to be neglected is also the fact that the ex-Ajax player receives a princely salary at the Catalans and would probably have to accept losses in case of a transfer.
