Hubert Hurkacz cannot defend his title at the ATP Masters in Miami, he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz. The latter will meet Alexander Zverev’s defeater in the final.

The Norwegian Casper Ruud (6) had defeated Zverev in the quarter-finals of the tournament with 6:3, 1:6 and 6:3 in three sets, in the semi-finals he made it less exciting and gave the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo no chance with 6:4, 6:1.

The other semi-final between last year’s winner Hurkacz and the 18-year-old Spanish talent Alcaraz was a bit more exciting: The Pole held his own but lost both tiebreaks 6:7 (5:7), 6:7 (2:7) and thus missed the chance to win two titles. In the doubles he is in the final together with the US American John Isner.
