City goal scorer Erling Haaland is currently with the Norwegian national team. The 22-year-old is accompanied by a club member.
For Pep Guardiola, the fitness of his top striker is of immense importance.
Manchester City has therefore sent a member of the medical staff to the Norwegian national team to monitor Erling Haaland’s daily routine.
The man in question is Mario Pafundi, who was employed by the Skyblues as a sports therapist in Pep Guardiola’s first season with the club and has developed a close relationship with Haaland since the 22-year-old’s arrival this summer.
Haaland repeatedly suffered from minor injuries
Norway coach Stale Solbakken confirmed on Monday that Pafundi will join the team ahead of the upcoming Nations League matches against Slovenia and Serbia.
According to the Daily Mail, the therapist will be tasked with maintaining Haaland’s daily routine, which he completes in Manchester. In the past, the Premier League champions had followed a similar procedure with Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Agüero.
The Norwegian frequently struggled with various minor injuries during his time at Borussia Dortmund last season. In total, Haaland missed 16 games as a result – City wants to prevent a similar scenario with all its might.
