Bad news for Frankfurt as a basketball location: the Fraport Skyliners have been relegated from the BBL for the first time. A victory by the Löwen Braunschweig means that the former champions can no longer reach the save shore.
The first-time relegation of the former champions Fraport Skyliners from the Basketball Bundesliga is sealed – although the Hessians were not in action on Wednesday. Because the Löwen Braunschweig won 82:66 (49:41) at the Gießen 46ers, Frankfurt can no longer reach the saving shore with only three games remaining. Giessen’s chances of staying in the class have also dropped to a minimum.
Alba Berlin, meanwhile, celebrated its sixth win in a row, with the 78:70 (42:42) at the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim jumping the defending champions to second place in the table. The Niners Chemnitz secured their ticket for the playoffs. The Saxons defeated s.Oliver Würzburg 88:82 (38:43) and are now fifth.
