In the BBL play-off semi-finals, FC Bayern and Telekom Baskets Bonn battle it out in the fifth game for a place in the final.
After the Munich team won the first two games of the series, Bonn narrowly prevailed in the third and fourth game with 86:84 and 83:80 and thus saved themselves for the all-decisive fifth game.
The big question: Will Bonn make it to the BBL final again after 13 years against FC Bayern?
Four sweeps in the quarter-finals – what will the next round bring?
For the first time since the 1998/99 season, when the “Best of Five” mode was introduced, all four teams qualified for the BBL semi-finals via sweep. FC Bayern München, however, struggled in Game 3 of their quarterfinal series against NINERS Chemnitz and only won in overtime.
Telekom Baskets Bonn were able to rely mainly on league MVP Parker Jackson-Cartwright in their quarter-final against Hamburg Towers and are back in the semi-finals for the first time since 2009.
13 years ago, they even made it to the final with a win against ALBA BERLIN, but lost there in the decisive fifth game against EWE Baskets Oldenburg. In the main round of this season, both Bonn and Munich were successful in their two encounters in front of their home crowd.
ALBA Berlin, who beat Ludwigsburg 3:0, will await the winner between Bayern and Bonn in the final.
