Ángel Di Maria’s time at PSG is coming to an end. His contract will not be renewed – and the player is upset.
The ensemble of Paris Saint-Germain will be poorer by at least one star next season.
Ángel Di María is leaving PSG at the end of the season. The French side made the announcement on Friday evening. The 34-year-old Argentine’s expiring contract will not be renewed.
“Ángel Di Maria has left a lasting mark on the club’s history,” PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “He will be remembered by the fans for his impeccable attitude and great commitment.” Coach Mauricio Pochettino praised Di Maria as “one of the best players to have worn this jersey”.
Move to Juventus?
According to media reports, the winger is close to a move to Juventus Turin.
The 34-year-old would have liked to stay for another year. The club bosses have reportedly assured him of that.
But since they did not stick to this agreement, Di María is said to be angry, according to a report in L’Équipe. According to the report, he feels lied to and cheated.
Did the PSG bosses break their promise?
However, sporting director Leonardo and Co. are said to have verbally promised him a new contract until 2023.
The officials’ reasoning: the attacking player was no longer the outstanding player PSG had signed in 2015.
So Di María has no choice but to look the other way. At Juve – should the Argentine land there – he will possibly be held in higher esteem.
