Croatia stopped the winning streak of Denmark, who won against France and Austria. The Croats thus celebrate their first victory.

World Cup runners-up Croatia celebrated their first win in the Nations League, stopping the surprise team from Denmark.

Zlatko Dalic’s side beat the league leaders 1-0 (0-0) on Friday night to climb to third in Group A1 with four points. The Danes suffered their first defeat after wins in France and Austria.

Bundesliga pros Kramaric and Jakic start

Mario Pasalic (69th) scored the goal of the evening after a corner. At the sold-out Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, the hosts were the more active team at first. Croatia started with the Bundesliga pros Andrej Kramaric (TSG Hoffenheim) and Kristijan Jakic (Eintracht Frankfurt) in the starting eleven.

The visitors, however, only became stronger after the second half, when superstar Luka Modric as well as Josip Stanisic (Bayern Munich) joined in.

Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind came on for the home side in the 61st minute, while RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen (83rd) had to wait until the final stages – and was substituted in the 90th minute after suffering a knock. Robert Skov from TSG Hoffenheim was substituted for Poulsen.
