Manchester City are planning the next big attack on the transfer market. Two top-class midfielders are to come.

Manchester City are looking to strengthen their squad after missing out on the Champions League title once again.

Not only striker Erling Haaland is on the list, but also the midfield is to be strengthened. After all, the contract of veteran Fernandinho expires in the summer and has not yet been extended.

Pogba to Manchester City?

According to reports in the Guardian newspaper, the club’s managers are eyeing a player from their rivals in Manchester. Paul Pogba, whose contract with city rivals United ends in the summer, is said to be on the Citizens’ books.

According to the report, City are currently considering a bid for the Frenchman, who is also said to be on the books of Juventus Torino and Paris Saint-Germain. The English champions are reportedly looking to offer Pogba a four-year contract, with the option of a further year.

However, the Frenchman – who is said to be interested in joining Guardiola – would have to take a pay cut to make the switch. Guardiola apparently envisages a deeper midfield role for Pogba. More of a six than an eight.

De Jong also under discussion

However, Pogba is not the only player who is currently being hotly traded at Manchester City. According to the Daily Mail, Frenkie de Jong, who could possibly leave FC Barcelona in the summer, is also an option for Pep Guardiola’s team.

With additional transfers, City, who are facing a major upheaval, would like to finally win the big trophy.
