Manchester City officially announce the transfer of Erling Haaland. The former Dortmund star is looking forward to meeting Pep Guardiola and his new “world-class” team-mates.

Manchester City have officially announced the transfer of Erling Haaland. About a month after the English champions and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund made public their agreement in principle on a transfer, the completion news is now here.

On Twitter, the former BVB striker presented himself in his new shirt for the first time. In a short video, City reproduced an old photo of Haaland, whose father Alfie had once played for the Skyblues. Then as now, Haaland can be seen in City gear, casually sitting on the couch.

Alfie Haaland had signed for the Premier League champions 22 years ago almost to the day. “It’s a proud day for me and my family,” his son said in a City statement.

“I have always watched City and loved them over the last few seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play. It’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”

He said he was looking forward to the many “world-class players” among his new teammates and, of course, coach Pep Guardiola: “Pep is one of the greatest coaches of all time, so I think I’m in the right place to fulfil my ambitions.”

The goal of the Norwegian international is clear. “I want to score goals, win titles and develop as a footballer. I am sure I can do that here. This is a great change for me and I can’t wait to start preparing.”

Haaland had left Dortmund for a fixed sum of 75 million euros – after two and a half impressive seasons with the Schwarz-Gelb. In 89 competitive games, he scored 86 goals and set up 23 others along the way.
