Italy’s top tennis player Matteo Berrettini will miss at least most of the clay court season after hand surgery. As last year’s Wimbledon finalist announced on Instagram, he has to rest his right hand for the time being because of the minor operation. As a result, the 25-year-old will miss the Masters tournaments in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.

“Following the advice of my doctors, my team and I have decided that there is necessarily no time pressure on my recovery,” Berrettini wrote. He has not yet ticked off the start at the clay court highlight of the French Open.
