Bayern München did not show any weakness shortly before the start of the play-offs in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and won easily at home. Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team won 87-64 (41-38) against BG Göttingen and remains in third place in the BBL – a position that will not change until the end of the points round.

The Bavarians (50:16) reduced the gap to champions and leaders Alba Berlin (52:12) and Telekom Baskets Bonn (52:16), but they can no longer overtake them. Berlin’s game with the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, scheduled for Sunday, had been cancelled due to several cases of corona among the hosts.

Since a rescheduling was no longer possible due to scheduling reasons, the final table will now be calculated according to the quotient rule: Alba, still visiting Munich next Tuesday, will finish the main round with only 33 games and at least 26 wins. Bayern, with 34 games, can then have a maximum of 26 wins and will thus have a weaker quotient in any case. The Munich team can still draw level with Bonn, which has already played 34 games. However, the direct comparison is in favour of the Baskets.

Against Göttingen, who will not participate in the play-offs, a superior second half and a balanced team performance were enough for the victory. With only 14 points, national player Andreas Obst was already the best scorer for the Munich team, but a total of five Bayern professionals scored in double figures.
