FC Barcelona have sold Òscar Mingueza to Celta Vigo. Barca thus creates financial space for Lewy’s registration.

The transfer of Òscar Mingueza from FC Barcelona to Celta Vigo is perfect. After both clubs had already reached an agreement on Saturday, the transfer is now in the bag. Mingueza signs a contract with the Galicians until 2026.

As FC Barcelona announced, the Catalans secured a buy-back option as well as a full 50 per cent of the transfer fee should Vigo sell the defender on.

Mingueza played in 19 league games last season. TSG Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt were also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old Spaniard. The transfer fee is said to be around two to three million euros.

Lewandowski lacks eligibility to play

The sale of the defender gives Barca a little financial leeway to be able to register their new arrivals around Robert Lewandowski with the Spanish league.

Among other things, Barcelona has to comply with the requirements of the Spanish professional league regarding the total expenditure for player salaries, which is why it has not yet been possible to obtain playing rights for the new stars.
