Arsenal FC are on the verge of their next deal after buying Fábio Vieira. The Gunners seem to have snatched Raphinha away from FC Barcelona.
FC Barcelona is currently fighting on several fronts at the same time, which has consequences for the proud Catalans on the transfer market.
The renowned English newspaper Times reports that Arsenal FC have snatched Raphinha away from Barca, although the Brazilian has been in agreement with the Blaugrana for some time.
However, the 25-year-old Leeds United winger lost patience and did not want to wait for the Catalans, who still have to sort out their finances to finalise the deals of Franck Kessié (AC Milan), Andreas Christensen (FC Chelsea) and Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern).
Spanish newspaper AS can confirm the report, reporting that the Gunners are ready to put €58 million on the table for Raphinha. According to the Times, the deal is expected to go through officially this week.
Barcelona had recently hoped that Leeds would make the move to League Two. In that case, an exit clause of 25 million euros would have applied to the nine-time Brazilian international. For the financially strapped Catalans, this would have been more manageable.
However, as the Whites continue to play in the top flight, negotiations between the English and the Catalans were suspended. Arsenal apparently took advantage of this.
Last season, Raphinha was instrumental in keeping Leeds in the Premier League with eleven goals and three assists in 35 games. Now the Brazil star is expected to shoot the Gunners back into the Champions League.
